After trawling the net, here are 5 beautiful luxury designer watches which Watch Superstar think will really pave the way for future watch design!
1) Parmigiani Fleurier Bugatti 370

This stunningly obscure watch was created by Parmigiana Fleurier to commemorate the release of Bugatti’s incredible Veyron car. The appearance of the 370 watch was designed to parallel the styling of the Veyron’s engine. The face can be easily viewed thanks to the cylindrial design whilst the movement is easily accessible. This watch is highly exclusive as there are only 150 lucky recipients each year!
2) Maître du Temps Chapter One

The Maître du Temps Chapter One is a ’super brand’ watch, created by three of the world’s top watch designers all of whom have worked for some of the most prominent companies in Switzerland. This spectacular watch looks hugely futuristic whilst maintaining a certain retro look and feel. It features a manual wind mechanical movement, one minute tourbillon and a retrograde GMR indicator. Most worthy of your attention are the attractive rolling bars at the top and bottom of the case. The bottom roller displays the day whilst the top roller (which is so precise that Maître du Temps holds a patent on it) displays the gradual transition from day to night.
3) Pita Barcelona Oceana

The record for the deepest diving watch is held by the small spanish firm, Pita Barcelona. Usable at a staggering depth of 5000 metres, the Oceana has a truly innovative case design and some of the most durable construction that you will find in any watch today. The case has no winding crown, nor does it have a back cover as these are the 2 most common areas where the watertight seal of a watch is broken. These are even more exclusive than the Bugatti watch as just 80 are made each year!
4) Armin Strom Blue Chip Skeleton

The tiny company of Armin Strom employs less than 20 people across all of it’s 16 departments yet despite this then have managed to open a cutting edge manufacturing facility based in Biel. Unusually for such a small company they are on the verge of producing a completely in-house watch - an achievement that can only usually be afforded by much larger firms. The exquisite movement is hand decorated to such a high level of quality as to be unmatched by any other watch in it’s price bracket.
5) The Urwerk 202

This is quite possibly our favourite one on this list. The Urwerk 202 was released just over a year ago and looks so awesome, menacing and futuristic. This watch was the first to integrate fluid dynamics into a watch’s movement. Each of the three gauges extend and retract to point to the appropriate time whilst the winding is regulated by two small turbines seen through the back of the case. All this sounds massively complicated but all we know is - we want one.

Case material: Titanium
- Case diameter: 48mm
- Case thickness: 16mm
- Band material: Titanium
- Dial colour: Black
- Weight: 455g
- Movement: Solar
- Water resistance: 660ft (201.17m)
- Extra features: radio controlled
This is the long awaited titanium version of the Citizen Skyhawk radio controlled watch. This mens designer watch keeps almost perfect time as it synchronises itself with GMT radio waves.
The build quality of the watch is excellent. It may seem like a small point but the second hand always points precisely at each second mark on the dial as it rotates. This gives you a measure of the attention to detail from the manufacturers.
The watch is maintenance free as it is powered by an Eco Drive (effectively a solar panel on the face of the watch) so simple everyday wear will keep it charged. This, coupled with the automatic radio reception time hack means that the watch requires no effort from you.
In terms of visibility you will find that the light is bright and the watch hands are also luminous and easy to read in low light. With all the additional features you may be forgiven for thinking that the Skyhawk will be difficult to fathom but thanks to the CD Rom that comes with it, you will be up and running in no time.
Despite the watch’s size, it is extremely light due to the titanium casing and strap. The styling is very bold and purposeful, however the use of orange in the writing may not be to everyone’s taste. If this is the case then there is a Japanese version of the watch in black and white. But on the whole overall the quality, styling and functionality of the Citizen Skyhawk AT titanium watch is difficult to match.

- Case Material: stainless steel
- Case Diameter: 43.5mm
- Case Thickness: 12mm
- Band Material: Leather
- Band Width: 21mm
- Water Resistance: 330ft

Citizen have staked out a new position as the leader in Eco-Friendly timekeeping with their light powered Eco Drive watches range.
The 3100 model is a classic dress watch which has a dark leather band with the watch face having an old fashioned look with roman numerals. At the 12 o’clock position you will find a stand out display offering a perfect calendar date, which will never need adjusting (until the year 2100, apparently).
The Calibre 3100 watch is ideal for everyday work or casual wear. The stainless steel case is generously sized and surrounds the black chronograph dial which is complete with silver tone hands, markers and roman numerals at the 2, 4, 8 and 12 o’clock positions. The case is complemented by the textured black leather band which imparts a comfortable sophistication.
The only criticism we can make of this watch is minimal in that the anti-reflective crystal is made of mineral glass as opposed to the more expensive sapphire crystal, but overrall this is one of the classiest Citizen designs to come out for years - a serious timepiece for serious watch collectors.

The first thing that will strike you about this particular Accurist black steel designer watch is the excellent presentation. It comes in a white lined watch box and an outer thick white box. The watch itself is a tasteful shade of silver thanks to its stainless steel band and case. It certainly looks more expensive than it’s price would suggest. The watch has a good solid feel as it is nice and heavy and it’s striking appearance means that it could be used for any occasion, whether it be casual, work or formal.
The Accurist chronograph has a multitude of functions including: analogue and digital display, world time display (for 30 countries, all of which can have alarms set for), chronograph timing which is accurate up to 1/100th of a second, lap and split time functions, countdown timer (up to 99 seconds) and an electro luminescent feature for the LCD display. The light function for the LCD display is good, however when it is entirely dark it really isn’t required as the glow in the dark markings on the watch are really quite bright.
For such an attractive watch, the Accurist chronograph watch is extremely durable. It can take a few knocks and bumps without showing any noticeable internal or external wear and tear. All in all, for the shopper on a budget this is an extremely good looking watch which will serve you well on any occasion.

There was a lot of attention surrounding the release of the Tag Heuer Golf watch, due in no small part to the involvement of Tiger Wood’s in both it’s development and launch. Conventional golfing wisdom states that you should remove your watch when playing a serious match as it can seriously interfere with your swing in different ways. It was with this in mind that Tag Heuer and Tiger Woods set out to change all that by designing a professional golf watch that works with golfers rather than against them. The Seiko Arctura is a sharp and stylish looking watch whose unorthodox design certainly works in it’s favour. The dials exhibit a high clarity of visual arrangement, which makes for uncomplicated time reading. The main dial has machined cut outs for the sub dials. All the markings appear to be extremely precisly positioned too, though it could be argued that the ‘min’ and ’sec’ subdials are perhaps unecessary. Seiko has moved the date window on the newer Arcturas and have dropped the ’sec’ label.

The Arcturas has a real quality finish and fit thanks to it’s unique arc design (hence ‘Arcturas’) and brushed stainless steel. Despite it’s size, the gently arced case wears very well on the wrist.
This Seiko watch may be let down a little by it’s Chrono features, or rather lack thereof. It operates well and the pushers work with a more than adequate amount of resistance however there is no lap time facility which is a surprising omission for such a quality watch that has been crafted with such attention to detail.
In conclusion, the Seiko Arctura an unconventional looking watch that is certainly eye catching and has a comfortable fit and amazing finish. If the lack of lap time facility isn’t a dealbreaker then this is certainly a watch worthy of your consideration.
